One of his biggest wins came when he defeated then-world No.2 Rafael Nadal at the United Cup in Sydney, and he went on to secure six top-10 wins in 2023, a major improvement from his previous record of seven from 2017-2022. In the Australian Open, he reached the fourth round for the second consecutive year, becoming the first Australian man to do so since 2016. However, he was ultimately defeated by eventual champion Novak Djokovic. His success continued on the hard-court in Acapulco where he was victorious against Holger. These achievements have put de Minaur in contention for winning the Newcombe Medal for the second time.
