The immediate future of women’s rugby and the Wallaroos in Australia is in major doubt with players set to defect to the rival NRLW rugby league competition en masse.

The Wallaroos have breached their contracts by making a stand against Rugby Australia, calling for promised improvements to be delivered including a fulltime coach.

The players have put their names to a protest document, with the flashpoint being the wives and girlfriends of Wallabies players flown to Paris for the World Cup in business class while Wallaroos were forced to fly economy for matches.  

‘You said our program would go professional, and our coach would be full-time. How many coaches has Eddie taken to the World Cup?’ the statement posted to social media read.
