Rory McIlroy, the battle-wearied face of the PGA’s war with LIV Golf, hasn’t been quite himself this week — and his peers should take a good hard look at themselves, according to one leading pundit.
The PGA’s Player Advisory Council chairman has been the prominent voice and public go-to in the sport’s ongoing turf-war, but McIlroy has notably deflected any LIV-related questions leading up to the PGA Championship, starting tonight AEST.
“We’re coming up on the one-year anniversary of the first LIV Golf tournament. If you could look into your crystal ball three years from now, where do you think the professional game will be?,” McIlroy was asked in one of the more telling exchanges with the media.
“I don’t have a crystal ball,” McIlroy responded bluntly.
“You don’t want to speculate?”
