A ruthless Port Adelaide outfit has delivered an ominous statement to the AFL, shattering an array of records and breaking the spirit of a hapless Hawthorn in one of the most dominant first-half performances in recent years.
Hunting their ninth consecutive win, the Power slammed through a whopping 16 goals – and conceded just three – across the first two quarters to lead the Hawks by 82 points at half-time at Adelaide Oval. The 82-point margin was their greatest ever half-time lead.
Port’s score of 16.9 (105) was the highest ever first-half total it’d ever produced in its AFL history, while it was also the AFL‘s highest half-time score since St Kilda (17.6) against the Giants in Round 22, 2012.
