Essendon best and fairest Peter Wright is “medically clear” to play, with coach Brad Scott considering whether to unleash the star forward against North Melbourne on Sunday.

Wright hasn’t played a game in 2023 after undergoing shoulder surgery following a training mishap on the eve of round one.

It was initially expected he wouldn’t be available until deeper into the season but he has been increasing his training in recent weeks and rejoined full training this week.

That’s put Wright, who booted 53 goals in 2023 on his way to the club champion award, in the mix for selection against the Kangaroos, the team Scott coached for nearly a decade.
