Celtics by the numbers: 9 telling stats for 9-game winning streak

The Boston Celtics stretched their winning streak to nine games Tuesday night by running away from the Philadelphia 76ers.  What has gone into the recent success? I dove into the numbers to find nine telling stats, one for each win.

True shooting percentage: 65.1

I could have chosen another statistic to highlight the Celtics’ dominant offense throughout this stretch, but their true shooting percentage during the winning streak (65.1) might best express their next-level efficiency right now. Among all players with at least 5,200 NBA points scored, only two have surpassed this true shooting percentage for their careers: Rudy Gobert and Jarrett Allen. They take dunks and layups almost exclusively. That means over the last nine games the Celtics, as a team, have nearly been as efficient as the most hyper-efficient guys who shoot from nowhere else but the rim.

That’s a weird comparison….
