Boomers coach Brian Goorjian reiterated Ben Simmons could still figure in this year’s FIBA World Cup but that health will ultimately determine the three-time All-Star’s availability.
Speaking on SEN Radio’s ‘The Run Home with Andy & Gazey’ on Monday afternoon, Goorjian was asked about Simmons not being named in the 18-man squad for the Boomers’ Cairns camp.
Goorjian said last week that Simmons is a “strong chance” of making his long-awaited Boomers debut at this year’s World Cup in August.
But health was always going to be an obstacle after Simmons missed the final 24 games of the NBA season at the Nets while rehabbing his knee and dealing with back issues.
