Cricket Tasmania has opted not to offer former Test captain Tim Paine a contract for the summer of 2022-23.
Paine took indefinite mental health leave from professional cricket in November last year after it came to light that he had sent sexually explicit messages to a former Cricket Tasmania employee during her time working with the organisation between 2015 and 2017.
A spokesperson told News Corp that because Paine remained on leave in the wake of the saga, he was not considered for a deal with his state.

Paine would still be available for selection if he chose to return to state cricket this summer, but as Tasmania’s quotas are now full, there is no chance he could be offered a contract later in the year.
