Daniil Medvedev was the man who was supposed to end Novak Djokovic’s Australian Open reign.
Turns out, despite a 20-match win streak, he wasn’t quite ready.
Djokovic meticulously picked apart an out-of-sorts Medvedev on Sunday night on his way to a ninth title at Melbourne Park as he proved once again that the next generation still have a lot of work to do.
And that maybe we, as a collective, should be careful not to overreact.
