AUSTRALIAN Bill Lloyd has made the journey from the tennis court to the court of law since retiring from the sport.
The Sydney native had a respectable tennis career after turning pro in the early 1970s after attending the University of Southern Illinois.
“He’s going to be a good one,” University of Southern Illinois tennis coach Dick Le Fevre said.
“Maybe the best we have ever had here at Southern.”
The highlight of his career came in the 1975 US Open when he and men’s doubles partner Phil Dent defeated legends Bjorn Borg and Rod Laver en route to the quarter-finals.
Dent reached the Australian Open final in 1974 and reached seven men’s doubles grand slam finals, including victory at the 1975 Australian Open.
