Brazil, Chile complete line-up for United Cup tennis

[Brazil and Chile have qualified for the United Cup, a mixed teams’ tennis event in Sydney and Perth. Brazil’s qualification was thanks to their top WTA player, Beatriz Haddad Maia, who closed her 2023 season with a victory at the WTA Elite Trophy in Zhuhai. She cracked the top 10 in June and made it to the semi-finals at the French Open. Haddad Maia will be joined by Marcelo Melo, Thiago Seyboth Wild, Felipe Meligeni Alves, and Carolina Alves in Team Brazil. They have landed in Group A and will play their matches at RAC Arena in Perth, setting up a rematch between Haddad Maia and world No.1 Iga Swiatek. Chile’s qualification details were not provided.
