Jamie Maclaren has yet again stamped his claim as the A-League’s most prolific striker leading Melbourne City to a 3-0 romping of Macarthur at AAMI Park.
City put the game to bed in a rampant 12-minute first-half blitz as Maclaren took his tally to ten goals on the season with a first-half brace while Craig Noone sealed it with a stunning individual effort.
After a dull opening, the floodgates opened as Maclaren got to work on Macarthur’s back four.
Maclaren latched on to Nathaniel Atkinson’s well-weighted first-time cross to give Melbourne the lead.
Two minutes later, Andrew Nabbout’s cross found Maclaren yet again whose initial effort was cleared off the line by Antony Golec but wouldn’t be denied twice as he slammed home the rebound.
The reigning Golden Boot winner could’ve easily had his third when his clever flick narrowly drifted past the post.
City would get their third…
