Australia international Massimo Luongo has joined English Championship outfit Middlesbrough on loan until January.
The 29-year-old was a free agent after leaving third-tier Sheffield Wednesday at the end of last season.
Luongo started his career at Tottenham and has Championship experience with QPR.
The move will give the midfielder a chance to advance his career and push for a place in Graham Arnold’s Socceroos squad ahead of November’s World Cup.
Arnold has made it clear places are still up for grabs for Qatar which should serve as ample motivation for Luongo.
