Newcastle Jets have confirmed Craig Deans will become the club’s new head coach on a permanent basis, having begun the season in the role on an interim role.
Deans took over following the departure of Carl Robinson for Western Sydney Wanderers in October of last year after less than a year in charge.
That left Deans taking the Jets into the new season before being announced as the permanent head coach on Wednesday following a run of two wins and a draw from their last three games to climb to eighth on the A-League ladder.
Deans, who has spent his last 17 years in the Hunter as a player first and then in a number of different coaching positions, beat out 20 other candidates for the role.
“We’re very happy to be able to confirm Craig Deans as Head Coach of the Jets,” Executive Chairman, Shane Mattiske said.
