Darren Coleman remains the favourite to coach the Waratahs in 2022, but in a significant plot twist Simon Cron might yet emerge as the man tasked with Australian rugby’s biggest rebuilding mission.
Cron, who spent the season coaching Michael Hooper at Toyota in the Japanese Top League, hasn’t applied for the role, nor interviewed.
That is because he is currently under contract with Toyota for another year, where he is the head coach sitting underneath former All Blacks coach Steve Hansen who is the club’s director of rugby.
