Tate McDermott’s time has arrived.
After four cameos off the bench, the 22-year-old Queensland Reds scrumhalf has been handed the No.9 jersey for the Wallabies’ series decider against France at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday.
Dave Rennie promised changes and he has not failed to deliver, as the Wallabies try to deny France their first series win on Australian soil since 1982.
The livewire scrumhalf is one of seven changes to the starting XV that must back-up four days after their dramatic 28-26 loss to Les Bleus — France’s first win against the Wallabies on Australian soil since 1990 — on Tuesday night in Melbourne.
McDermott’s promotion comes after knocking on the door for years.
