Rugby Australia is banking on NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian to get on top of Sydney’s Covid outbreak ahead of the Wallabies’ opening Test of the year against France at the SCG on July 7.
With the SCG Test on the brink of a sellout, Rugby Australia is desperate for the Test to go ahead to help ease the balance books.
RA chairman Hamish McLennan told foxsports.com.au it was “too early to tell” how many people would be allowed through the gates, but said it would be “unfortunate” though not a “disaster” if a reduced attendance was required.
With the pandemic changing things on a whim, it’s understood the governing body had been conservative in their budget for 2021 and the fact France are now on Australian shores have eased concerns somewhat.
