It will not surprise anyone who watched the French series, but if the Wallabies are to keep the Bledisloe Cup series alive they must reverse their dire first-half trends.

Since Dave Rennie took over the national team in 2020, the Wallabies have won just one first half from 10 matches while being level on another two occasions.

Accumulatively over 11 matches, the Wallabies trail by a total of 57 points at the break, according to the Fox Sports Lab.

In stark contrast, the Wallabies have won six second halves off the back of strong final quarters.

In all three Tests against France, a series the Wallabies won off the back of strong finishes in the first and third Tests, Rennie’s made terrible starts and gave up 15-0, 13-3 and 10-0 head starts.
