The power of the mind can be a wonderful thing.
Even the most one-eyed fans would have thought the third Test was a toss of the coin based on recent results. Even less would have given the Wallabies a chance when Marika Koroibete was given his marching orders in the fifth minute.
But Michael Hooper, captaining the Wallabies for the 55th time, had other ideas as he mounted a truly remarkable come-from-behind victory.
Hooper started the comeback with a linebreak and he found Tate McDermott, the lively halfback who was inspired by Will Genia’s feats a decade earlier on the same Suncorp Stadium field against the Crusaders and then All Blacks, to strike back.
The Wallabies believed and despite being forced to play with 14 men for 75 minutes pulled off one of the most remarkable Test wins of the past decade.
