Wallabies coach Eddie Jones is set to make a big change ahead of Australia’s must-win game against Wales, with multiple reports claiming Carter Gordon will be benched.
Jones made a huge gamble in the first place by backing the 22-year-old at the World Cup, opting against settling for a more experienced option in Quade Cooper.
A report from The Sydney Morning Herald on Thursday, however, claims Gordon is expected to be dumped from the starting XV after struggling in Australia’s loss to Fiji.
With so much on the line, Jones is instead tipped to name Ben Donaldson to start at No.10 against Wales with Andrew Kellaway coming into the side as fullback.
The news comes after Sonny Bill Williams sent a clear message to Jones after the defeat to Fiji, declaring it “would be a tragedy” for Gordon to be dropped from the team.
