At the start of last month Dragons coach Anthony Griffin resisted the urge to call on the club’s emerging talent with a top-eight spot on the line.
Corey Norman and Matt Dufty had both been told their services would not be required the following year but Griffin said he would continue to select the duo in first grade.
“We made some calls over the last few weeks on what we think are the best interests of the long-term future of the club but at the moment we are going flat out trying to win this game and get into the play-offs,” he said at the time.
