The Waratahs have their coach, but they have lost one of their few remaining Wallabies.
It can be revealed Jack Maddocks, the 24-year-old outside back with seven Tests, will join Pau in the French Top 14 competition.
The Wallabies outside back had hoped to feature for the Australian Sevens team at the Olympics, but after failing to take the field in the recent Oceania tournament in Townsville, his hopes appear all but dashed.
His departure is a blow for the Waratahs, whose backline has very little experience outside of captain Jake Gordon.
Meanwhile, Darren Coleman – the successful Shute Shield winning mentor – has agreed to terms to take over as Waratahs coach for 2022.
