ARL commission chairman Peter V’landys has spoken for the first time since news emerged that two of the hopeful NRL expansion bids were set to merge.
According to The Courier Mail, the Brisbane Jets and Brisbane Firehawks are thrashing out talks to amalgamate their two entities to see off the threat of the Redcliffe Dolphins.
Redcliffe are sat on a solid asset base – estimated to be worth up to $100 million owing to their history as a traditional club – are seen as the frontrunners.

The NRL is expected to admit a new team for the start of the 2023 or 2024 season after speaking to the three prospective bidders earlier this week.
