The Crusaders missed out on the standalone final due to a lack of bonus points, despite going through the tournament undefeated. Harry Plummer’s excellent sideline penalty gave the home side a 16-15 lead, and replacement flanker Blake Gibson scored the decisive try in the 76th minute. Plummer’s wide conversion put the result beyond doubt with a conversion to put the Blues beyond a converted try. The victory brought a sense of fulfillment and joy to the Blues and their fans who had long awaited this moment.
