After Riley Meredith was belted in the penultimate over, Mitchell Starc bowled the perfect final over to lead Australia to a six-run victory in the fourth T20 against the West Indies.
Meredith was hit for 25 from his opening five deliveries, yet his final-ball wicket proved pivotal as Andre Russell decided to take the strike in the final over, not confident in Hayden Walsh Jr’s ability with the bat.
In the end, the decision proved costly, as Russell only managed a boundary off the final ball after finding his line and length.
The tense victory came after some Mitch Marsh heroics, where the all-rounder produced his best figures with the ball and highest score with the bat to set-up Australia’s total of 6-189.
