Peter Handscomb reveals social media trolling during Australian Test cricket career

Former Test star Peter Handscomb says his decision to switch off social media has played a major role in his recent form revival.

The Victorian captain revealed he shut down his Facebook and Twitter accounts following the 2017-18 Ashes, a campaign that saw him underperform in the first two Tests before being dropped in favour of Mitch Marsh.

“When someone’s taking the time out to directly message you, calling you s**t or (saying) ‘How dare you be in the Australian side’ – that kind of stuff – it’s hard not to take that to heart, especially (given) I was quite young at the time,” he told cricket.com.au.

“I got off (social media) during the Ashes (in 2017-18) and that was definitely one of the biggest things that helped.
