Victoria has recorded 92 locally transmitted cases of Covid during the latest reporting period.
It comes after 64 new cases on Saturday, 15 were not yet linked to others, while 25 had been out and about while infectious.
Reports emerged overnight that the lockdown would likely be extended.
Senior ministers told the Sunday Herald Sun that given the rate at which people were passing on the virus, they held little hope the shackles on families and businesses would ease on Thursday as scheduled.
Victorian Health Minister Martin Foley said on Saturday his state would not copy NSW, where some restrictions were eased, such as allowing five people to attend weddings, while cases grew.
