Shadow Finance Minister Jane Hume says legislating emission reduction targets comes with “risks,” as she pointed to the dangers of climate activists “using the courts” overseas.
Ms Hume said legislating emission reduction targets “comes with risks” as she discussed the occurrence of project delays in the UK.
“Because you have climate activists that are now using the courts in order to delay those targets under the guise of emissions reduction,” she told Sky News Australia.
“Essentially, if you legislate an emissions reduction, what you’re doing is your outsourcing the responsibility from the parliament to the judiciary … which is very dangerous.”
