Former NSW Origin player James Roberts has announced his retirement.
Roberts calls time on his career having played in the NRL for 12 seasons, making 166 appearances for five different clubs and scoring a total of 77 tries.
The 29-year-old made his first-grade debut with the South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2011, where he stayed for two seasons.
He then had a brief stint with the Penrith Panthers before moving to the Gold Coast Titans.
Roberts’ most memorable club period came with the Brisbane Broncos between 2016-19.
He played 81 games at Red Hill, notching an impressive 41 tries in that span.
Notably, he finished the 2017 NRL season as the Broncos’ highest try-scorer with 18 tries in 26 appearances.
His form saw him earn a spot in the 2018 NSW Blues squad, where he featured in all three games at centre.
