Welcome to our live coverage of the Tokyo Olympics closing ceremony.
Seventeen days of competition between the world’s best athletes will come to an end Sunday evening at the Tokyo Olympic Stadium.
Much like the opening ceremony, no spectators will be allowed in the stadium due to protocols introduced to keep everyone safe during the coronavirus pandemic.
Officials and dignitaries will be in attendance though, along with athletes whose competitions finished within 48 hours beforehand.
While some of the ceremony will be prerecorded, viewers have been promised plenty of exciting live moments too.
Protesters arrive with the dumbest message
A group of protesters have marred the closing ceremony in Tokyo, gathering outside the Olympic Stadium with a bizarre message.
One hour ahead of the closing ceremony, Japanese locals were heard chanting, “Cancel the Olympics!”
