Haumole Olakau’atu, contract, Josh Schuster, Manly Sea Eagles, salary cap, player market

Concerns have been raised over Manly’s salary cap after reports Haumole Olakau’atu is set to re-sign joining Josh Schuster on a huge new deal to stay at the Sea Eagles.

Schuster re-signed earlier this year on a deal worth $800,000 a season, while the Olakau’atu’s new offer is worth a reported $6 million over seven years.

The Daily Telegraph’s Phil Rothfield believes Manly are paying money usually reserved for playmakers and fullbacks for edge forwards.

“We talked about the Broncos cap and the balance of it, I have never seen a situation where one edge forward in Josh Schuster is on $800,000 and the other one Olakau’atu is going to be on $900,000,” Rothfield said.
