Every season, the three-year-old return of the Slipper winner is big news and there is a level of anticipation and expectation on Stay Inside, the glamour colt with the $30m price tag, bringing his brilliant two-year-old form to the new season.
But the so-called Slipper curse lingers menacingly and Stay Inside’s co-trainer Michael Freedman concedes there is an element of truth to the theory.
“The records are there I suppose, there is some veracity to say a lot of Slipper winners don’t return but you need to take it on an individual basis,’’ Michael Freedman said.
