The AFL has suspended Carlton recruit Elijah Hollands for two weeks after he pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine. The 21-year-old was caught with the drug at a casino on the Gold Coast in September, after finishing his season with the Gold Coast Suns. Carlton confirmed that Hollands was charged with possession of cocaine the day after he was traded from the Suns to join his younger brother at Carlton. The Blues stated that they were aware of the charge before committing to the deal with the Suns. Hollands faced court 12 days later and was placed on a two-month good behaviour bond and ordered to complete a drug diversion course, with no conviction recorded. The AFL handed him the two-week suspension for “conduct unbecoming”.
