India captain Ajinkya Rahane opens up on SCG racial abuse, Mohammed Siraj

Ajinkya Rahane has opened up on the Sydney Test in 2021 that came to an ugly halt when Mohammed Siraj claimed he was racially abused by the crowd.

Rahane, who was India’s stand-in captain for Virat Kohli at the time, suggested that the team was racially abused at multiple venues during that tour, but experienced the worst in Sydney.

The 33-year-old was speaking in Mumbai at a launch for a documentary on that series — which India remarkably won 2-1 — called Bandon Mein Tha Dum.

As quoted by ESPNCricinfo, Rahane said that he was insistent that the accused abusers be removed from the SCG instead of India being forced to stage a walkout.
