Top-ranked amateur Rose Zhang has capped an unbeaten week as the United States won six of eight singles matches to dominate Great Britain and Ireland in the Curtis Cup’s final day.
Zhang went 4-0-1 for the week at Wales’ Conwy Golf Club, finishing with a 1-up victory over Emily Toy on Saturday in the premier team event for women’s amateur golf.
Her heroics helped the US clinch the Curtis Cup for another year with an overall 12 1/2-7 1/2 victory.
Since the Curtis Cup began in 1932, the Americans lead the series 30-8-3.
However, it marked the first time the US had won away from home since a 13-7 victory in 2008 at St Andrews.
The score was tied at 6-6 going into Saturday’s singles.
As the defending champion, the Americans only needed to win four points from singles to retain the cup.
The hosts got their lone singles win from Caley McGinty, a 4 and 3 victor over Gina Kim.
