Irish golfer Padraig Harrington has revealed his grave fears over the conduct of crowds at the Ryder Cup, claiming even the players’ families and wives being “singled out” for abuse.
The Ryder Cup typically attracts rowdy crowds who passionately support the host team in either the United States or Europe, but it has tended to spill over into some ugly behaviour.

Although a number of the most well-known heckling incidents at the Ryder Cup took place in America, Harrington insists the Europeans are not absolved from any blame.
“I wish I could say it is one-way traffic, but it isn’t and we should realise that and look at our own backyard as well,” Harrington told The Telegraph.
