The 149th Open Championship arrives this week and, from an Australian perspective, it couldn’t come at a better time.
Australia has had a ridiculously good run across the globe in the weeks before the final major of the year, to be played at Royal St George’s from Thursday.
Earlier this month, 26-year-old Cameron Davis broke through for his first win on the US PGA Tour, but he was far from the only Australian to taste success.

On the same weekend, Lucas Herbert won the Irish Open, Steph Kyriacou won on the European Tour. Meanwhile, fellow Australians Dimitrios Papadatos was runner-up at a Challenge Tour event, and Australian Amateur champion Louis Dobbelaar won the prestigious North and South Amateur at Pinehurst No.2.
