Harris English has beaten Kramer Hickok in one of the longest sudden-death showdowns in golf history to win the PGA Tour’s Travelers Championship.
The Americans needed an insane eight-hole playoff to be separated, making it just the seventh time in PGA Tour history more than seven holes have been required to find a winner.
Only five tournaments had ever been decided in eight holes, while a 1949 playoff for the Motor City Open is still the longest at 11 holes.

English and Hickok couldn’t be separated in regulation on a final day that stretched well over six hours for the pair, who were tied at 13-under after 72 holes — one shot ahead of Australia’s Marc Leishman, who narrowly missed the marathon playoff.
