Playing a par-5 alongside water with the flag at the back corner is daunting enough for golfers.
Try doing it with an alligator standing just metres behind you.
That was the unsettling scene for world No.87 Cameron Champ, who had an uneasy third shot on the par-5 after his tee found the water with the American duo firmly in the mix at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
“Is the gator giving him a ruling?” quipped Nick Faldo, after Champ had to take a drop on the edge of the water trap.
“That is not a prop, I can promise you,” on-course reporter Dottie Pepper responded, referring to the interested observer.
“I’m sorry, how does that not get in his head when it’s right behind?” another interjected.
“I have to say,” Faldo, the six-time major winner continued, “as a delicate Englishman, I’d send my caddie down to double-check for me.”
