Burmester leads European Masters | The West Australian

Dean Burmester holds a narrow halfway lead at the European Masters but the South African has a high-quality chasing pack, including Australia’s Min Woo Lee, ready to pounce on moving day.

Burmester followed up Thursday’s 64 with a bogey-free 65 on Friday, carding five birdies to move to 11-under-par, which leaves him a single stroke clear of England’s Andy Sullivan and Belgian Olympian Thomas Detry, with Renato Paratore another shot further back.

Lee, who’s searching for his second European Tour win this season after his win in the Scottish Open, is on seven under, four behind, along with four others who are tied for ninth place.

The man from Perth, who’s the younger brother of women’s major winner Minjee Lee, shot a second-round 67, which included six birdies.

First-round leader James Morrison, who set a new course record with his sensational 60, had stretched his lead to four strokes…
