Cameron Smith is far from out of it but the Australian will have to be at his best if he is to challenge for his maiden major.
As his rivals Rory McIlroy and Viktor Hovland enjoyed rounds of 66, the 28-year-old had a frustration third round where he shot one-over to slip down to four shots behind the leaders going into the final round of The Open.
He wasn’t the only Australia to have a frustrating Saturday, with compatriot Adam Scott managing just two-under to remain seven shots off the pace at nine-under for the championship. It had the former Masters champion in a share of eighth.
He will take to the tee at 11:40pm AEST to start his fourth round.
