Toby Greene appeal; Patrick Dangerfield hit; tribunal, MRO, Geelong Giants feud, Tom Morris, news, updates

As GWS formulated its plan to free Toby Greene at Thursday’s appeals hearing, the club asked Geelong for a favour they assumed would be granted, no questions asked.

But the Cats, much to the frustration of the Giants, refused.

On Wednesday afternoon, 24 hours from the appeals hearing, GWS chief executive Dave Matthews sent a text to his Geelong counterpart, Brian Cook.

Matthews asked Cook if they could borrow Patrick Dangerfield for a few minutes the following day to give video testimony around the incident and his subsequent injuries.

Foxfooty.com.au understands Cook spoke with Chris Scott and footy boss Simon Lloyd after receiving Matthews’ text.

It was decided that Dangerfield’s focus should be on the club’s Round 22 game against St Kilda and he would not be made available…
