Tigers’ comeback seals AFLW finals berth

Courtney Wakefield has starred with a career-high four goals as Richmond’s AFLW hot streak continued with a record-equalling comeback win over Carlton.

The Tigers coughed up the first four goals before dragging themselves back into the contest, prevailing 6.8 (44) to 5.4 (34) in a tight finish at Ikon Park on Friday night.

They trailed by 26 points during the first term and matched the record set by Hawthorn in round five for the biggest deficit overcome in an AFLW fixture.

Wakefield and midfield gun Monique Conti (30 disposals) were instrumental for Richmond, who are set to play finals for the first time after reeling off six straight victories.

Former Blues Sarah Hosking (18 disposals, one goal) and Grace Egan (18 disposals) were also strong performers against their old side.
