North Melbourne has been handed its first wooden spoon since 1972 despite a valiant comeback effort against the Sydney Swans at Marvel Stadium on Saturday night.
The Roos trailed by as much as 38 points during the match, but piled on the goals in the second half to force the Swans to go at full effort to take out the win.
The win means the Swans are guaranteed a ‘home’ final, while the Roos will remain in bottom spot on the ladder even if they defeat Adelaide in Round 23.
