‘Not a $1 million player’: AFL legend questions star’s mammoth deal

AFL legend Leigh Matthews doesn’t believe Giants star Josh Kelly is worth his $1 million price tag.

The silky midfielder on Tuesday shunned free agency by opting into his massive eight-year, $8 million dollar contract option with GWS until the end of 2029, making him a Giant for life.

It came amid rival interest including North Melbourne for the 26-year old Victorian – who’s averaged 25.6 disposals, 5.3 tackles and 4.4 inside 50s from 19 games in 2021 and booted 15 goals.
