American footballer Matko Milijevic had his contract with Major League Soccer team CF Montreal ripped up after he played in an amateur league under a false name and punched an opponent.
Milijevic, who had grown frustrated with his lack of game time for the Canadian side, decided to play in the Ligue Quebecoise de Soccero Calcetto (QCSL).

Per MLS rules, it is a direct breach of contract to play in another league while contracted to a team and gave CF Montreal an easy decision to terminate Milijevic’s deal after an investigation.
Montreal confirmed Milijevic’s departure from the club for “engaging in conduct detrimental to the league and violating his standard Player Agreement.”
