As Carlton prepares for an explosive extraordinary general meeting, it can be revealed the wheels are in motion to sign Ross Lyon as their new head coach to replace David Teague.
Teague was sacked two-and-a-half years into his tenure at the Blues, after missing the top eight by three wins.
President Luke Sayers – if his board makes it that far – will ramp up the search for their ninth coach since the turn of the century.
Even still, the expectation is whoever gets that role will take the club to their first finals appearance since 2013.
On the same day Teague was sacked, Sayers contacted veteran coach Lyon.
“What I can tell you is I did have a conversation with Ross (Lyon) last night. A general conversation for about 45 minutes,” Sayers told SEN.
“Ross is excited to put his hat in the ring once we figure out whatever is the process to move forward at the Carlton footy club.”
