Essendon legend Tim Watson has questioned the physical and mental application of Joe Daniher after the Brisbane Lions recruit’s underwhelming finals campaign.
Showing superstar potential during his initial time at the Bombers, father-son selection Daniher was then beset by injury for three years before his eventual trade request to the Lions at the end of 2020, since which he has put together a remarkably consistent 2021 campaign, playing every possible game for the side before Saturday’s Semi-Final loss to the Western Bulldogs.
In that loss, Daniher, on a $2.2m deal, managed just one goal while, in the Qualifying Final loss to Melbourne the week before, he went goalless for the first time this season.
