Aliir Aliir cops racial abuse on Twitter after Showdown Medal, Port Adelaide statement

Port Adelaide has vowed to “continue to challenge and report racism” after Showdown Medallist Aliir Aliir was targeted on social media post-game.

The Power on Sunday released a statement in response to a racist social media post directed at Aliir following the club’s four-point win over the Crows at the Adelaide Oval.

Aliir was named best on ground, finishing with 21 disposals, 16 intercepts and 12 marks. Of those 12 grabs, 10 were intercept marks, equalling the known record for most intercept marks in a VFL/AFL match (from 1999 onwards).
