Dual All-Australian Kane Cornes has called out recentl commentary from Simon Goodwin, arguing the Melbourne coach’s attitude filtered down to the players as the club was bundled out of finals in straight sets for a second consecutive season.
The Brayden Maynard-Angus Brayshaw saga consumed an emotionally charged week amid reports the Demons were left “filthy” and “disgusted” over the whole situation, with further claims since saying Melbourne think it derailed its finals series.
However pointing to strong remarks from Goodwin regarding Maynard’s collision Brayshaw, and earlier this season, criticism towards Hawk Finn Maginness’ lockdown role on Clayton Oliver, while defending Jacob van Rooyen’s hit on Dan McStay, Cornes suggested the Dees boss hadn’t set up his players with the “right mindset”.
